We’re slightly worse for the wear after pulling double-duty in New York City this past weekend, but the America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented By Pioneer DJ & DJ Times is ready and rearing for another full weekend out on the West Coast this weekend.

Over on 10th Avenue this past Friday, Chelsea superclub Marquee New York celebrated the birthday of the Sleepy half of husband-wife DJ duo Sleepy & Boo. Fresh back from a trip in Ibiza, the Basic NYC founders brought down the house with their signature Sleepy & Boo + Friends event. Tech-house hot-shot Shawn Dexter kicked the night off with a brilliantly paced opening set that spanned from classic NYC vibes to banging baseline house.

Of course, the night truly hit high gear when Sleepy & Boo themselves got behind the decks. A pair of Toolroom Cuts—Prok & Fitch’s Balearic affair “One Of These Days” and Green Velvet & Technasia’s western-twanged “Suga”—served as groove shakers for the peak-hour crowd, but it was the sweeping euphoria of Mark Knight’s Suara single “Second Story” and the sinister vocal house of “Fearing Love” by Serge Devant that stood out as highlights from the set.

Down in the Meatpacking District, clubbers were given a lesson in trance history from #ABDJ2015 nominees Gabriel & Dresden. The party was the latest stop on the pair’s Classics Only Tour (which they chatted about here), and the duo celebrated the occasion with a six-hour open-to-close set.

At both events, DJ Times held down dedicated ABDJ voting tables to collect ballots and give fans a chance to win a trip to our closing party at Omnia San Diego on Sunday, October 11.

This weekend, we’re going back to the Neon Future with a trio of events featuring Dim Mak head honcho and 2015 nominee Steve Aoki. On Friday, we’ll head to Omnia San Diego—the home of the 2015 America’s Best DJ Crowning Ceremony/Closing Party later this year—for a night with the cake-tossing aficionado. The fun hops over to Las Vegas on Saturday for a blowout at MGM Grand, where Aoki is sure to play some cuts from his two-album epic Neon Future I and Neon Future II. Break out your Dim Mak shades on Sunday afternoon, as the Aokified weekend will conclude with a sunny pool party at MGM’s Wet Republic Las Vegas.

As always, head out to dancefloor or cast your vote online at AmericasBestDJ.us.
