Apple has updated its popular GarageBand software, adding a set of new features aimed at EDM and hip-hop producers.
The update sees the expansion of its Drummer virtual session player, which now includes 10 new EDM and hip-hop drummers and 20 electronic drum kits. 100 synthesizer patches have been implemented, including a new Morph Pad Smart Control for easy sound sculpting. Producers can also choose from 1,000 new loops from a variety of additional genres, including disco, funk, and blues. Force Touch has been integrated, which lets users activate commands and receive haptic feedback using a force click on the Mac trackpad. Finally, direct sharing capabilities from GarageBand to Apple Music Connect is included.
GarageBand 10.1 ships for free on all new Macs and is available as a free upgrade to all existing users of GarageBand version 10.0 and later. All other users can purchase it for $4.99 on the Mac App Store. For more information, go to Apple.com/Mac/GarageBand.
