This week DJ Times also takes a trip north of the border. From Toronto, the town that’s given us so many electronic-music talents – from Mstrkrft to Azari & III, from Zeds Dead to deadmau5 – we welcome the latest, DJ Sara Simms.
Best known for her techno sets and production skills, Simms is a multi-instrumentalist with a passion for music technology. As a DJ, she’s played sets for Paxahau, Allen & Heath’s live broadcasts at Amsterdam Dance Event and Miami Music Week, at Charivari Detroit, and at Techno Taco Tuesday for MNTRA in Las Vegas. In 2020, she created projects together with Native Instruments and the L.A.-based 6AM Group, plus she collaborated with vocalist JEI on “Finally” and released the techno track, “Bronx.” In 2021, she’s released her re-work of Terrence Parker’s deep-house fave, “Love’s Got Me High.”
Simms has founded her own label, Simmetry Sounds to release original work and collaborations. Her career highlights include: playing at Ultra Music Festival (Miami), appearing on DJ QBert’s Skratch University, and playing at AIR (Tokyo). Simms’ ability to push musical boundaries by infusing new sounds into electronic music make her an artist to watch this year. Don’t miss it – be there.
