Arriving just in time to makes it way into your party playlist ahead of the weekend, Major Lazer’s Ape Drums has teamed with Silent Addy and Projexx to deliver “Mek Money.”
Serving as one of his first solo releases since he joined Major Lazer in 2019, the Miami-based innovator in both the dancehall and dance/electronic music spaces serves up an infectious, subtly trap-infused dancehall weapon that will have listeners dancing the day away.
“Addy and I have been trying to make a record that represents all of what we do and what we believe in musically,” Ape Drums says. “‘Mek Money’ does that perfectly, especially with Projexx. Him being from Jamaica, it was only right we shot the music video there. We directed and shot the whole thing ourselves and we’re super proud of how it came out. The idea was to have it be half recap of the trip & half music video, and I hope everyone will enjoy.”
Check out Ape Drums’ “Mek Money” and keep an eye out for his new EP which is set to be released this spring. Enjoy!
