Atlantic City, N.J. — Once again, DJ Expo will give its attendees a chance to mix with a living legend of the industry. On Aug. 14, as part of its renowned “Keynote Q&A” series, the show will present disco-era pioneer Nicky Siano.

Set for Aug. 12-15 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., DJ Expo will share money-making ideas through its deep slate of seminars. Additionally, the show will offer up latest technologies in its exhibit hall and loads of fun with its sponsored evening events. And this “Keynote Q&A” session will continue a series that has seen legend after legend – from Grandmaster Flash and Jazzy Jeff to Jellybean Benitez and Paul van Dyk – speak to the popular DJ convention.

As much as any U.S. jock still performing, NYC’s Nicky Siano had a huge part of the original DJ-led disco explosion in the 1970s. A contemporary of The Loft’s David Mancuso and a DJ-mentor to future legends Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, Siano help lay the groundwork for the DJ scene and the dance music we enjoy today.

Opening The Gallery, an influential Chelsea club, then becoming a resident at the legendary Studio 54, Siano led the party for years with classic disco and soulful sounds, plus brand-new DJ techniques and novel approaches to audio. Featured prominently in the book, “Love Saves the Day,” Tim Lawrence’s essential history of early disco, Siano has also appeared in a variety of documentaries related to disco and DJing.

Today, he collaborates with legendary DJ Jellybean Benitez and U.K. brand MN2S for “A Night of Studio 54,” a new global event series, inspired by the great NYC discotheque.

Come to DJ Expo’s “Keynote Q&A,” and hear Nicky Siano tell the tales of early disco – its rise and crash – plus he’ll offer his own take on the modern DJ scene and its evolution. He’ll be interviewed at 3 p.m. on Aug. 14 at Harrah’s Resort by DJ Times’ Jim Tremayne. Bring your questions!
