Swedish DJ Avicii, born Tim Berglund, has died at the young of age 28.
His publicist confirmed his death earlier today:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” Diana Baron, his publicist said in a statement. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
First making ripples across the electronic dance music community with the release of “Seek Bromance” under the name Tim Berg, the Stockholm native would later reach superstar status crossing into the mainstream following his global hit single, “Levels.”
The Grammy-nominated producer had announced his retirement from touring in 2016.
