Lauren Lane is wasting no time in getting 2016 started in a big way with the release of her new three-tracker “Diary Of A Madwoman” on Eats Everything’s Edible imprint on January 29.
The EP serves as the label’s second release and comes on the heels of a stellar year of gigs for Lane, which included a bombastic showing at Nicole Moudaber’s Brooklyn warehouse soiree in September and A Decade of Saved in London this past November. The metallic echoes, quirky refrain, and entrancing hi-hats of the title track keep things energetic from the get-go (and has been tearing up club crowds in her sets throughout the past few months), but it’s the sinister tech-house haze of “FOMO” that kick things up a notch. Lane rounds things off with the chugging basslines and scattered vocal snippets of “The Right Kind Of Weird,” delivering a crowd-pleasing corker ready for peak hour. On “FOMO,” Lane proclaims that she’s “just trying to stay home for once,” but this EP’s hypnotic groove is sure to drive you right to the dancefloor.
