WTF? with Tracy Young
So we’re reading the tabloids, and your name is plastered all over the place, and we’re like, Tracy and reality TV star Kim Zolciak? WTF? The DJ scene I’m involved in is underground and they quite frankly don’t know who Kim is. I don’t know the show. I don’t watch the show.
Neither do we, so WTF? We became friends in December, and I didn’t know who she was. I knew about her song “Tardy for the Party,” that was initially how me met, it was sent to me in August and she wanted me to remix it.
From a remix job to the tabloids? WTF? I’ve never been in the tabloids so it’s thrown me through the loop. I happen to really like Kim, and I’m obviously gay, I’ve been out for 10 years, and it’s just a shame how the media can rip apart a friendship. I don’t want to speak for her, but at the moment we’re not speaking. With all these outside influences, you don’t know who to believe or trust.
As far as your career goes, has this incident had any, you know, WTF? I’ve been slammed for the last 10 years. The month of October I went to New York, Hong Kong, DC, Miami and Chicago, so the gigs have always come to me. I don’t have a booking agent.
This past weekend you played Montreal, was anyone like, WTF? It’s an underground house music Mecca, they really have their ear to the ground there. In the U.S. it’s a very commercial sound, Gaga and Janet, but in Montreal and Europe if you play a commercial record you’ll get booed. They have their own commercial icons—like Guetta and Deadmau5.
As for your future, WTF? I’m relocating to New York next month. Moved to LA six months ago to pursue TV stuff and soundtracks. But at this stage of my life my personal happiness is more important to me. I’m gonna take a bite out of the big apple, baby.
