Ultra Music Fest: Bring It
We just returned from the always-satisfying Ovum Party at The Shelborne. This year’s bash—the 15th annual—featured Josh Wink, Steve Bug, Nic Fanciuli, Davide Squillace, Shlomi Aber, and Manik.
It was part of the Ultra Music Fest, which has developed a reputation for shaving years off one’s life expectancy.
This year is no different…
Day 1 for DJ Times at Miami Music Week definitely did not suck. No, it was fun in the sun at mansion owned by legendary music engineer/producer Tom Lord-Alge.
Presented by Sea to Sun Recordings and ably fronted by Sylvia Tosun, the chart-topping hostess-with-the-mostess, the 1-to-9-pm party had its share of frivolity and bumpin’ music. Co-sponsored by DJ Times, the event saw an industry who’s-who gracing the Grammy winner’s Blue House for backyard performances by BT, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Sted-E and Hybrid Heights, and more.
Who made it? Trance diva Jes with manager Tom Fritze, Josh Gabriel (who told us about reuniting with DJ/studio partner Dave Dresden), Pioneer’s Davey Dave Arevalo, Promo Only’s Cary Vance, the Black Hole Recordings crew from Holland including label honcho Arny Bink, longtime dance-music maven Hosh Gureli, Media Services’ Oscar Poche and Jessica Bendig, iZotope’s Victoria Kane and many more.
The event was broadcast live by SiriusXM, which was represented by a crew the included its NYC posse Geronimo, Anthony Lopez and Liquid Todd.
Then it was off to the Juicy Beach party with Robbie Rivera headlining the 17-hour Nikki Beach shindig that included sets by Tommy Lee and DJ Aero and many more. We also hit the Beatport Beach Party at the Gansevoort for some DJ-deck action by Fedde le Grand, Mark Knight, John Dahlback and more.
That’s when we ended up at the Ovum party.
Hopefully, it won’t take too much out of us when we load into Ultra Music Fest in a few hours. Yikes.
