The British Are Coming: Sankeys to Open in NYC This Month
Sankeys’ third season is coming to a close, but the party isn’t stopping as the owners prepare to open a New York edition of the British club on October 31st. The new location will be located in Manhattan on 36th Street and houses two rooms: the famed futuristic-themed Basement and the low-overhead European Spektrum. The club will be outfitted with a Void Incubus sound system in addition to the world’s first hydraulic LED Grid Matrix system.
Sankeys NYC will kick off with a Halloween party featuring an extended set from Reboot, No Regular Play, My Favourite Robot, and Dave Rosario. The rest of the weekend will see live sets from Amirali, Slow Hands, Fur Coat, and Tanner Ross on Friday and sets DJ Sneak, Julian Perez, Deep and JKRIV on November 2nd’s Saturdays Launch Party.
The New York club promises to be a showcase for up-and-coming underground artists in addition to featuring the big names. David Vincent, one of Sankeys’ owners, has long dreamed of moving the club to New York, saying,
“I really cannot wait to finally bring a lot of new music and artistes to the city that taught me about what house music really means. If we can achieve even half what the great clubs like Sound Factory, Paradise Garage and Tunnel did for the city then I will be more than happy. We have waited three years for this project to finally become a reality. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.”
Sankeys NYC opens on Thursday, October 31st. For more information on the club, go to SankeysNYC.com.
