For those who tuned into the latest edition of Pete Tong’s weekly Essential Mix series, you may have witnessed what is arguably the frontrunner for Essential Mix of the year. Didn’t catch it live? Luckily this historic mix is still available to stream on bbc.co.uk.

The Dewaele brothers were the latest to take over the BBC Radio 1 airwaves for a very special two-part mix giving listeners the best of both worlds, an hour of each Soulwax and 2ManyDJs.

While the brothers played an hour of original material they wrote specifically for the first hour of the mix, the second half is an extremely diverse hour in what many would consider being the definition of a proper DJ set. This was one Essential Mix of the history books, my friends.

Listen to their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix here.
