Skrillex Premieres Entire Debut Album Recess Ahead of Surprise Release

By  |

Skrillex dropped both the bass and a bomb yesterday with the surprise announcement and full streaming premiere of his debut album Recess, due out next week on March 18. The album was premiered through Skrillex’s mysterious Alien Ride app, a retro 8-bit arcade game featuring a countdown that unlocked a new track from the album every 30 minutes.

It comes as no surprise that album is a star-studded affair, and includes collaborations with Kill The Noise, Alvin Risk, and Diplo. Spread across 11 tracks, the OWSLA head honcho showcases a variety of styles, from his signature electro to breakbeat hip-hop and funked-out midtempo.

The album is slated to stream this week on iTunes Radio via First Play leading up to its release on March 18 via OWSLA/Big Beat Records. Preview and preorder the album here, and go to for more information
