SFX & Clear Channel Announce Content Partnership
After an IPO, acquisition of Made Event, and overhaul of Beatport, SFX is continuing to grow its EDM empire with the announcement of a new marketing and content partnership with radio giant Clear Channel. The partnership combines the biggest gloabal producer of live dance music events with the world’s largest radio and digital broadcaster, and sets the stage for a series of events this year. The new deal sets the stage for the creation of a national DJ talent contest that will air live on Clear Channel stations, with live portions taking place at iHeartRadio Theaters in New York and Los Angeles. The winner of will appear at the inaugural Mysteryland USA this May in upstate New York and will also receive a recording contract with Beatport and a major record label.
Additionally, the new partnership includes the creation of a weekly on-air Beatport Top 20 Countdown, which will air on Boston’s dance music station Evolution, as well as select other Clear Channel stations, including New York’s Z100, KIIS-FM in Los Angles, and 103.5 KISS-FM/WKSC in Chicago. Finally, the new deal will provide the framework for “event creation in the electronic music space,” which is aimed specifically at creating a new EDM event program around Halloween.
