Richie Hawtin Releases First Plastikman Album in 10 Years [STREAM]

It’s been over a decade since Plastikman released Closer, but Richie Hawtin has revived his underground techno alter ego for the release of EX, his new album. Recorded live during Hawtin’s performance at New York City’s Guggenheim Museum fundraiser this past September, the release coincides with Plastikman’s sole performance of 2014 at Barcelona, Spain’s Sónar festival on June 12.

The album is available digitally now, and fans can stream the full release via YouTube below. A physical release is scheduled for July 15 and will include both vinyl and CD editions of the album, while audiophiles can preorder the limited edition SubPac bundle of the album here. The SubPac edition of the album—produced in the form of a seatback portable bass system—serves to “[introduce] the physical dimension of sound” by allowing listeners to feel the sonic information of the lower frequency range.
