Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York kicked off its month-long series of parties, performances, lectures, and art installations today, and it plans to pay respect to DJ pioneer Larry Levan on May 11 with its Larry Levan Street Party. The party will shut down King Street between Varick and Hudson—the original site of the legendary Paradise Garage where Levan was a resident—and will feature a full day’s worth of performances from the late DJ’s friends and collaborators, incuding François K, David Depino, and Joey Llanos.

The Larry Levan Street Party will begin its festivities at noon and is free for all ages. For additional information about the festival, go here.
