After months of label bidding wars, 10-hour teaser videos, and endlessly circulating rumors, Porter Robinson has finally revealed firm details of his upcoming worlds album with the announcement of its release date and the unveiling of his new single “Sad Machine.” Due out August 12 via Astralwerks, worlds is described as a “cinematic excursion that blends Porter’s technological prowess with his love of evocative melody.” The new album is available pre-order today from PorterRobinson.com, and the preorder perks include instant downloads of its singles, signed vinyl and CD artwork, and a presale access code to Porter Robinson’s upcoming tour.

In addition to the album release details, the America’s Best DJ 2013 nominee has also unveiled his latest single “Sad Machine.” The track marks the first time Robinson has used his own vocals on a song and sees him singing alongside a synthesized robot voice. It’s an odd pairing on paper, but the track’s nostalgia-soaked vibe, glacial production, and music box-like melody is endlessly memorable and emotive.

“Sad Machine” is available now. Stream the track below.
