Pioneer DJ Announces PLX-1000 Turntable
Pioneer DJ has announced the PLX-1000, a new professional turntable offering a user-friendly control layout, high-torque direct drive mechanism, and exceptional playback quality. The model was first teased earlier this year at Frankfurt, Germany’s MusikMesse music fair and acts as an analog counterpart to the company’s popular CDJ digital players.
The PLX-1000 is equipped with a high-torque direct drive mechanism that ensures stable rotation and exceptional control. The turntable is capable of a starting torque of 4.5kg/cm and can reach its fixed rotation speed in 0.3 seconds (at 33 1/3 RPM). The model also features a familiar, user-friendly control layout, with quick tempo control on the right side of the unit, start/stop button on the left side, and a lighted speed guide for the high torque platter. The PLX-1000 provides users with a range of pitch speeds, with tempo adjustments of ±8% and ±16% to ±50%.
The PLX-1000 was designed with a dedication to exceptional sound quality. Pioneer utilized a heavy-mass zinc die-cast chassis for the top section of the player and reinforced the bottom section with a 8-mm thick resin in order to prevent vibration. The base of the unit was further reinforced with a 9-mm thick vibration-dampening material, and the tone arm uses rubber insulation to minimize howling effects during audio playback. The RCA jacks feature gold-plated machine-cut parts for low impedance for excellent sound quality output, and the unit is equipped with detachable power and audio cables for increased portability.
The Pioneer PLX-1000 turntable will be available in August, and will be on display at The DJ Expo in at Atlantic City, NJ’s Trump Taj Mahal next month. Watch a demo video below.
