With vinyl sales soaring over the past few years, Panasonic has found the perfect time to announce new models of the legendary Technics SL-1200 turntables.

Unveiled today at Microsoft CES in Las Vegas, the new Grand Class Technics SL-1200 models—the aluminum 1200G and limited-edition magnesium 1200GAE—coincide with the direct-drive turntables’ 50th anniversary. Featuring the classic Technics heavy aluminum top plate as well as a series of new features—including a twin-rotor surface-facing direct drive motor, direct drive motor controller, high-sensitive tonearm, and brass-top turntable platter—the SL-1200G and SL-1200GAE aim to celebrate the brand’s history and look to the future. The new models will feature 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM speeds as well as a pitch range of plus-or-minus 8% and 16%.

The 1200GAE will arrive this summer and the 1200G will be available later in 2016. For more information, head to Technics’ page on the new turntables here.
