#MixMonday – Shit Robot Live at Panorama Bar, Berlin, Germany

By  |

This week’s edition of #MixMonday comes from DFA Records’ Shit Robot, who took to the decks of the upstairs Panorama Bar of famed Berlin club Berghain earlier this month. The Irish DJ threw down three hours of funky house to the German club, and now the first hour of the paramount set is available to those not fortunate to attend.

The first half of the mix is dominated by a rousing medley of off-kilter house tracks, with DFA-signature rich drums and unique samples. The soulful vocals of Weiss’ “My Sister” ten minutes in is an undeniable hands-up moment that sets the uproarious tone for the rest of the mix.

The mood gets a bit darker and smoother around the 35-minute mark, with a one-two punch of Cristoph’s sleek “Dunka” transitioning into the ethereal “Distorted Symmetry” by Bareskin. The Eighty Nine remix Serge & Tyrell’s “House Countdown” is the highlight of the mix, with an aggressive bass guitar riff backing the track’s Parisian synth line during the last ten minutes.
