#MixMonday – Anna Lunoe Live from Norad Dance Bar/Falls Festival

By  |

This week’s #MixMonday is a multi-continental affair, with the inaugural edition of Anna Lunoe’s Luney Tunes mix series combining her sets from Denver’s Norad Dance Bar and Australia’s Falls Festival.

The first hour of the mix is taken from Lunoe’s set at Norad Dance Bar in Denver, Colorado, and it provides a plethora of rubbery bass and smooth sounds. Kicking off with the NYC house-drenched Cosmo’s Midnight remix of her own single “Breathe,” the Australian DJ/producer quickly establishes an effortlessly hip vibe that defines much of the mix.

A particular highlight of the club performance is the mid-set sequence of diva-leaning house that begins with the Mary J. Blige rework of Disclosure’s “F For You” 26 minutes in. The gospel-disco of David Penn’s remix of Candi Staton’s “Hallelujah Anyway” (35:30) takes things back in time with a modern twist.

The focus shifts to a melodic indie-dance series of tracks to round the Norad set’s final ten minutes. The hands-up disco euphoria of andhim’s “Boy Boy Boy” wraps up the set and acts as the proverbial cherry on top.

Right at the hour mark, Lunoe flies listeners to Australia for a 15-minute snapshot of her Falls Festival set with a bounce bootleg of Disclosure’s “When A Fire Starts to Burn.” This quick peek shows off a total different side of Lunoe’s, with rap-infused bass bangers going off left and right. Hatch’s trapped-out remix of Duke Dumont’s “Need U (100%)” and Flosstradamus’ “Hood Fantasy” bootleg take the energy up to staggering heights.
