Martin Buttrich on 20th Anniversary #9414 Tour
To honor his career milestone, Buttrich has embarked on the #9414 Tour, a 20-date international jaunt. The new tour sees the German DJ/producer playing alongside an all-star list of friends and contemporaries, including Josh Wink, Loco Dice, and Carl Craig. DJ Times caught up with Buttrich to talk about the extensive tour, upcoming collaboration album, and his other upcoming projects.
DJ Times: What led to your decision to tour for your 20th anniversary?
Martin Buttrich: After 20 years in the business, I decided I needed to find a way to celebrate. Getting a lot of friends and artists who I admire, have worked with, or known for years to join me on this tour seemed the perfect way to do this.
DJ Times: With it being a 20th anniversary celebration, do you plan on revisiting any of your old material for the tour?
Buttrich: No. I wanted to use the 20 year anniversary as an opportunity to create a great tour with the friends and promoters I love to work with, but as far as music is concerned I like to look ahead. I have many projects I am currently working on and a lot of new material, and I’m excited for the world to hear it.
DJ Times: What can fans heading out to the shows expect from each performance?
Buttrich: First and foremost: a night of great music. My career has always been about the music! I am also confident that the experience will be enhanced thanks to the artists—in my opinion, the very best in the world—that I have invited to join me. I always have a good time with these artists, and I would expect and hope that the good time will be shared and spread amongst everyone who comes to the shows.
DJ Times: You’ve got some pretty big names joining you on the tour. How did you pick the artists playing alongside you on the tour?
Buttrich: It’s a mix of friends and artists I admire. I have known everyone on the list for many years, so I’m really looking forward to having them play with me on this 20 year anniversary tour.
DJ Times: What other projects are you working on currently?
Buttrich: There are a few albums I have been working on for a while. First of all, I am finishing my new album Collaborator which is set to be released in 2015. This past spring, I worked with Loco Dice on his new album that is almost finished, and there is also an album with Davide Squillace & Matthias Tanzmann for our Better Lost Than Stupid project. Another project I have my hands on is with Konrad Black and that should be ready for next year.
