Livid Instruments has teamed up with Dubspot for the DS1, a new MIDI mixer aimed to bring classic audio design to the digital world.

The DS1 was designed with an emphasis on quality and portability, perfect for the stage, studio, and on-the-go. The unit is constructed from lightweight aluminum and features nine faders, 44 knobs, four encoders, 25 RGB buttons, and an expression pedal input. The DS1 is compatible with any software that supports MIDI, and templates are available for popular DAWs, including Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and Logic. The mixer is small enough to slip into a backpack, with a total size about that of a record while still being equipped with enough controls to serve as a complete performance solution.

Founder and CEO of Livid Instruments Jay Smith discussed how the DS1 came to be, saying:

“[Dubspot CEO] Dan [Giove] and I started our companies in NY around the same time. We’ve both been championing quality computer music production and performance for the past ten years. We’ve focused on producing only high-quality and innovative products for electronic music, and Dubspot has transformed the way music is taught. This product has been a result of the years of discussions we’ve had together.”

The DS1 will be available in late August. For more information, go to LividInstruments.com and Dubspot.com.
