HYTE Park Festival @ Governors Island, NYC – 7.12.14 & 7.13.14
While techno may usually be relegated to the late hours of the night inside underground clubs, there’s no reason not to soak up the sun with pulsing beats and thumping bass based upon the success of the HYTE Park festival. Put on in tandem between HYTE and RPM Presents, the fest delivered two full days of music from techno’s biggest names, all set to the gorgeous Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.
The first day featured a stacked set of performers, with tINI’s afternoon set Loco Dice’s throbbing headlining set being particular highlights. Day two’s festivities had a bit more of a celebratory tone, with Nicole Moudaber’s rebuilding the crowd’s tech-journey following a quick sound mishap and Chris Liebing donning a German soccer jersey to celebrate his home country’s World Cup victory earlier that afternoon. The weekend’s sights were just as spectacular as its sounds, with clean, colorful decorations acting as perfect complements to the undeniably stunning natural and urban environment.
