#FreePlayThursday – 9/5/2013

It’s #FreePlayThursday, so we’ve got a slew of free tracks coming your way, per usual. However, we’ve also got a couple of mix & bootleg compilations for you, as well!

Kicking off this week’s set of free tracks is Tommie Sunshine’s “Reload The Sun” bootleg. The mix mashes up the vocal version of Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash’s “Reload” with “We Are The Sun” by Savoy and Sick Individuals. The mix is a hard-hitting slice of big room electro house that would go down well on any stage. Oliver’s remix of Bonnie McKee’s “American Girl” is a danceable, yet reserved fusion of 80s electro pop, house, and flashes of techno. McKee’s vocals are kept fairly intact for verses before being chopped and pitched for drops.

We’ve also got a pair of heavy trap tracks up for grabs. America’s Best DJ nominee Krewella has released “Party Monster” as a free prelude to their album release this month. The song is a massive combination of trap drops with hardstyle-influenced builds, and is bound to get any crowd jumping. We picked ETC! ETC!’s mix of Kendrick Lamar’s “M.A.A.D. City” for last week’s #FreePlayThursday, and his Trapped It! edit of Cedric Gervais’s “Summertime Sadness” remix is just as good. It takes the huge progressive house stormer’s and flips it on its head, keeping the signature synth styles and warping the tempo to outfit it as a trap banger.

Lo-fi indie dance fans should grab the free Sweetened Sally Shapiro remix compilation from Paper Bag Records. The mix of Little Boots’ “Crescendo” (in this week’s Soundcloud playlist) and Lindbergh Palace’s “Days Don’t Fade” are particular highlights. On the other side of the spectrum, Excision has released the 2013 edition of his annual Shambhala mixtape, and this one is as heavy, dirty, and terrorizing as ever. You can stream and download it here.

Listen and download all of the tracks through our Soundcloud below. If you find any outstanding free tracks, remixes, bootlegs, or mashups, tweet them to @DJTimesMag using #FreePlayThursday. We’ll feature our favorites in future editions!
