#FreePlayThursday – 8/29/13

It’s hard to argue with free, and when the thing in question is quality free music, it’s simply impossible to. For this week’s #FreePlayThursday, we’ve got eight free tracks for you, so sample them below and grab them for the low, low price of FREE.

Kicking off this week’s roundup is “My Body,” a collaboration between Treasure Fingers and The Knocks. The release is a house pounder that dabbles in elements of deep house and garage, all topped off with diva vocals. Producers won’t want to miss out on the stems, available with the track. Pusherman’s “Slur” provides a more traditional take on deep house, featuring distorted vocal loops and understated synths.

Fans of big room house will love Kaskade’s remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Young & Beautiful.” Its prolonged build and massive synth drop reminiscent of his earlier collaboration with Rebecca & Fiona, “Turn It Down.” Sevag’s rework of Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash’s “Reload” delivers an electro house stormer, with pulsating bass and lightning-fast synths meshing together to build an explosive drop.

Big Gigantic’s remix of Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” combines the best of the duo’s saxophone-infused dubstep with the original track’s hook-heavy vocal take. For those in need of dubstep without the pop leanings, Figure has dropped “War Call,” a collaboration with rapper Del The Funky Homosapien. The track is a grinding, booming bass bomb that’s heavy on the grime and filth.

Two trap tracks round out this week’s free picks. Whiite’s “Still Turnt” leans toward the bass realm, with explosions and stuttering vocals defining the track. ETC! ETC!’s mix of Kendrick Lamar’s “M.A.A.D. City” is less bombastic in its approach, with reverbed blips and pitch-shifted vocals providing a deep, dark atmosphere.
