Valentine’s Day has arrived, and regardless of whether or not you have special plans for the evening, we’ve got five tracks that are set to soundtrack your night. Just consider it a Valentine Day’s gift from us to you.
Galantis’ euphoric stomper “Smile” is transformed into a big room behemoth by Dave Silcox to kick off this week’s picks. Keeping the warm vocals intact as a build, the British producer brings down the house with rich bass stabs and a relentless rhythm that is sure to raise the energy level in any crowd.
Eton Messy Records are offering up a free download of Farrow’s chilled-out “Weak.” Keeping it light and airy with ethereal synths and tight vocals, Farrow delivers a nostalgically romantic house package.
DFA Records joins in on this week’s freebie madness with the Midnight Magic remix of Holy Ghost’s “Bridge & Tunnel.” Dreamy and mysterious, the techy groove is matched with glittering blips and swooping rushes to create a lo-fi house chiller.
Justin Martin celebrates 50 thousand Facebook fans with his rework of the Four Tet remix of “Small Talk” by Ultraista. Martin delivers a Dirtybird-signature groove, with a smooth bassline and funked-out jam section in the latter half of the track.
Valentine’s Day normally plays host to everyone’s playlists of throwback guilty pleasures, meaning L’Aquarium’s remix of Backstreet Boys’ bubblegum classic “I Want It That Way” could not have come at a better time. Reimagining the pop hit as a French filter disco floorfiller, the remix is far more elegant and works much better than it sounds on paper.
