2013 has come and gone, and a new year promises an endless supply of new releases. Those people whose New Year’s Resolutions included spending less are in luck, as we’ve got five free tracks for you! Trap and bass music fans should be particularly excited, as this week’s set of picks leans heavily toward a heavier sound.

Peking Duk and CRNKN join forces to kick off this week’s picks with their remix of Liz’s “U Over There.” The remix manages to finely tread the line between chillwave and banger, with a sultry liquid bassline building into an almost-symphonic, glacial drop. Alvin Risk recently joined forces with the creators of Nyan Cat to make the digitized explosion of rainbow for the video of “ZOOM!” from his Junkfood EP. The track is available for free from his Soundcloud and is a tour de force of 8-bit-inspired synths, chipmunk vocal samples, and bass.

Just Blaze and Mysto & Pizzi lead the trio of trap jams this week with the Super Mario-sampling “1UP!” Using the game’s iconic sound effects amidst its heavy drops, the track is relentless and massive in scale. “Till Death” is being offered by The Bloody Beetroots, and focuses on atmosphere and vocals in addition to its melodic synths leads and pulsing bass.  Whiiite and ETC!ETC! round out this week’s picks with their remix Luniz’s “I Got a 5 On It.” Taking a more bombastic, bounce approach to trap, the track features squealing synths and grinding basslines that are bound to get a crowd to shake it.

Listen to and download all of the tracks through our Soundcloud below. If you find any outstanding free tracks, remixes, bootlegs, or mashups, tweet them to @DJTimesMag using #FreePlayFriday. We’ll feature our favorites in future editions!
