#FreePlayFriday – 1/24/14
There’s no better way to kick start the weekend than with a set of free tracks, and this week’s #FreePlayFriday heads straight for the floor with a mix of bass bangers and sleek deep cuts.
It was only a matter of time until remixes of Beyonce’s fifth album started pouring in, and Wongo’s edit of the hypersexual “Partition” sets the benchmark high for all future mixes. By transforming the slinky vibe of the original into a bouncing house workout, Wongo has created a frenetic beast heavy on vocal cuts and booty shaking.
French producer D-Bass dropped “Move,” a stormer based on a sample from Ludacris’ 2001 rap hit “Move Bitch (Get Out The Way).” Dabbling in moments of future house merged with electro sensibilities, the track’s breakneck pace and iconic sample are bound to get any floor moving.
Dim Mak tries its hand at deep house with the free Boots N’ Pants remix of Borgore’s “Wild Out.” The remix really hits it stride in the middle as the liquid bass and bouncing synth accents hit their peak. Affani’s Booty Mix of Daft Punk’s classic “Technologic” paints a similar vibe with its cymbal-focused beat and entrancing groove.
The ItaloBros’ remix of Roisin Murphy’s “Primitive” rounds out this week’s picks. The track lives up to the duo’s name by wearing its Italo-disco influences on its sleeve with its rich synth work perfectly underscoring Murphy’s soothing vocals.
