Fatboy Slim – ‘Fatboy Slim Presents Bem Brasil’

By  |

The World Cup is just days away, and Fatboy Slim’s new Bem Brasil compilation will have you buzzing regardless of how big of a soccer fan you are. For the compilation, Fatboy Slim has curated two star-studded discs designed to act as an unofficial soundtrack to the global event and capture both the night and day aspects of Brazilian culture.

The first disc, dubbed Para Noite, serves as the sound of Brazil’s nightlife, packing in 10 dance bangers from an all-star list of artists. DJ Fresh transforms “Magalenha,” his collaboration with Fatboy Slim, into an electro swirl of grinding chainsaws and bounce basslines while NERVO takes Rio Shock’s “Sensualizer” and adds a dark, dripping house soul. Fatboy Slim himself provides two originals including the dizzying, riotous fun house sounds of “Everyone Loves A Carnival” and the hulking moombahton bass of his collaboration with Diplo and Dimitri Vegas “Eparrei.”

The energy level takes a chilled-out, sun kissed turn on the daytime Para Dia disc, rounded out with appearances from Claude VonStroke, Doorly, and more. Carl Cox’s Keepee Uppee mix takes listeners on a glimmering techno journey with shining blips and tropical drums while John Digweed teams with Nick Muir for a remix of Stuttgart’s “Tosca” that embodies an intricate moment of introspective deep house.

Fatboy Slim Presents Bem Brasil is out now via Astralwerks. Watch the video for “Erparrei” below and hear teasers of the entire album here.
