Bass heads are in luck this week, as Atlanta-based producer heRobust kicks off this week’s set of #FreePlayThursday downloads with the latest in his series of BUSTED remixes. This time he takes the viral sensation “We No Speak Americano” by Yolanda Be Cool and flips it on its head by pumping it full of trap high-hats and ear-shattering bass. Those looking for a more melodic take on trap sounds will enjoy Butch Clancy’s remix of Candyland’s “Castle of Affair” with its strong synth line leading its heavy charge.
This month’s release of Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail was a event in its own right, and K-Theory have gotten in on the action, dropping a club-ready dub version of the track “Heaven.” Similarly, Fedde Le Grand’s “Rockin N Rollin” is transformed from an electro house anthem into an atmospheric, thumping trip by Bailatronic. Dzeko and Torres unleash a vocal big room powerhouse with their remix of “Breaking Up,” which features a grand build and even bigger synths.
One of our favorite downloads of the week comes courtesy of the Damn Kids, who are handing out their 4-track Ussu EP in exchange for a Facebook Like. The EP flirts between a variety of style, from moombahton to downtempo and even elements of deep house. Stream and download it here.
Balancing out this bass-heavy #FreePlayThursday is a smattering of deeper cuts, including the glitchy, percussion-intensive Cashmere Cat mix of alt-pop songstress Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem.” In celebration of reaching 100,000 Facebook fans, Lee Foss has offered up a download of the spacey deep house track “U Make Me Shy.” Rounding out this week’s free downloads is Penguin Prison’s sun-kissed nu disco remix of Hockey’s “My Mind.”
If you find any outstanding free tracks, remixes, bootlegs, or mashups, tweet them to @DJTimesMag using #FreePlayThursday. We’ll feature our favorites every week, so make sure to check back next Thursday!
