At the EDMbiz Conference in Las Vegas last week, Integral Entertainment Group and Manifest announced the production of a documentary about the late DJ AM. The film, directed by Kevin Kerslake, will be titled As I AM: The Life & Times of DJ AM, and will be released in globally in 2014. Kerslake is no stranger to dance music documentaries, having directed The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience in 2011.
As I AM: The Life & Times of DJ AM will be dedicated to DJ AM’s memory, and is fully authorized by his mother and estate. It will pull from the AM’s personal archives and interviews with key figures in his life, and will chronicle his career as a DJ, his personal battles with addiction, and his outreach to help others with recovery. Additionally, the film will be posthumously narrated by DJ AM himself.
“DJ AM is unquestionably one of the most iconic figures in EDM history, largely responsible for turning the world on to a new form of music and breaking down barriers between genres. What a lot of people aren’t familiar with are AM’s personal struggles with adversity which are rather epic in scope. Ultimately, As I AM is a celebration of his life, his skills, and his passion for helping people in their recovery. The film covers his entire life, from seed to sorrow.”
