Anaheim, Calif.—As usual, the atmosphere is charged here at the 2012 Winter NAMM show, as the Anaheim Convention Center is being flooded with retailers, technology mavens and, yes, members of the press to see the very latest products aimed for the M.I. Market.
Of course, there are plenty of DJ-related debuts here at the show—and by that, we mean playback, pro-audio, lighting, video and/or studio products. Along with Testa Communications’ Convention TV @ NAMM, DJ Times will be here until the show ends on Sunday, gathering info on the very latest news. With over 85,000 attendees seeing booths from over 1,400 visitors, we’ll have to negotiate a lot of foot traffic this weekend, but we’re sure to find a few surprises.
Yesterday, we offered a glimpse of the new DJ-oriented gear we’ve seen at the show. Here are a few more tidbits from the NAMM show floor:
In the world of pro audio, Electro-Voice has debuted the ZXA1-Sub active 12-inch subwoofer, which matches the ZXA1 compact speaker. Yorkville Sound is showing its Paraline Series of mobile, expandable, active loudspeakers. Alto Professional is breaking out two new powered, wireless loudspeakers—Truesonic Wireless TX112W and TS115W.
On the DJ-lighting tip, American DJ is showing: the Fun Factor LED fixture (combo RGBW Moonflower effect/LED strobe); the Jelly Par Profile Sys 4-unit lighting system; the Mega Par Profile Sys all-in-one LED par system; the Double Phase LED dual-barrel mirrored effect; the InnoScan LED flat mirrored scanner; and InnoRoll LED barrel mirrored scanner. Related company Elation Professional has debuted a pair of video products—the EVCMH Moving Head Video Camera and the EPV15 Flex Video Panel.
Chauvet Lighting has launched nearly 20 fixtures including new additions to the Intimidator range of scanners and Scorpion family of lasers. Chauvet is also showing the wireless Freedom Par and Freedom Strip Mini, Nimbus dry-ice machine, and the Impulse 648 strobe.
SKB Cases is showing its 1SKB-R102 rack case for compact audio or DJ systems. Yamaha has unveiled its 01V96i digital mixer for live and studio apps.
With Monotron DUO and Monotron DELAY, Korg has added add two new models to its Monotron Series of pocket-size, analog ribbon synths. Roland unveiled its R-26 Portable Recorder and the BOSS RC-300 Loop Station real-time phrase looper.
Waves Audio is exhibiting its Bass Rider plug-in that rides bass levels automatically. PreSonus is showing Studio One v2 software, the StudioLive 16.0.2 mixer, and the AudioBox VSL series, plus it is debuting PreSonus Exchange technology for Studio One.
Genelec is showing its 6010A bi-amped monitoring system and the matching 5040A active subwoofer. Apogee Electronics is exhibiting its Duet 2 Breakout Box, which features studio-quality I/O connectors and cables.
