As the inventor of the Moog synthesizer, the late Robert Moog is hands-down The Godfather of dance music, if not the sperm donor for Yes and prog-rock, and, therefore, Asia. Still, the adulation all music types hold for him will coagulate in one giant rump shaking weekend, called the MoogFest, from October 29-31. Throughout multiple venues in downtown Asheville—Moog’s adopted hometown—including the Asheville Civic Center Arena, the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium (You can go home again!) and Asheville’s top-notch club, the Orange Peel, there will be workshops, there will be panel discussions, and art exhibitions, installations and film screenings, and, of course, sweet, sweet music. DJ Times will be a media sponsor.
