deadmau5 Announces ‘while(1<2)’ Double Album Release Date
deadmau5 is set to make his return next month with the release of his new album while(1<2), due out digitally on June 17 and physically on June 24 via mau5trap/Astralwerks Records. The new album—the Toronto producer’s first since 2012’s >album title goes here<—contains 25 tracks and spans across two discs, consisting of both new material and tracks first previewed and teased in raw form through his Soundcloud page over the past three years.
The release has been described by deadmau5 himself as his first proper body of work, who described it by saying:
“It’s a good mix of shit I want to do versus shit people want to hear or what they would expect. It’s a good balance. It’s not like, ‘Oh, it’s such a departure. He’s doing smooth jazz. It was when I was working on some live stuff, setlists for shows and stuff like that, and it just must have been a couple of tracks that sounded pretty good stitched together end to start and I thought, ‘Well, if I ever do an album or compile this into some kind of album this has got to be that part of the order for that.’ And I just kind of took everything and played musical Tetris with it.”
while(1<2) will be available for preorder on May 20, fans who preorder will receive an instant download of the album’s opening track “Avarita.” The track is set to make its official debut this Friday on Pete Tong’s UK BBC Radio 1 show on May 16, but a short clip can be previewed below “Avarita” below.
