For DJs looking to fill their sets with quality jams, at the right price, super-producer Swizz Beatz, who’s worked the boards for artists spanning Jay-Z to Whitney, is launching Monster Mondays, a series of free weekly MP3s, in the spirit of his homey Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Fridays. The first track in the series, a well-pruned Estelle collaboration “DJ Play the Beat”, is available for download now.

Swizz, who welcomed his first baby with wife Alicia Keys last week, and has recently been sued for royalties, has been a regular on Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Fridays series, and he also produced the most recent entry, “Don’t Look Down.”

Offering free MP3s is a great way to generate interest in your product, and consistent with the principle of “Freemium”—give away something in the hopes that you can develop an audience that will pay something in the future.

“It’s something I do all the time,” says DJ Jerry Spivak. “We’ll book at least three or four charity events every year, and we’ll work with the Chambers of Commerce to coordinate with other participating business owners so we can announce their names properly. That inevitable leads to contacts, which always leads to a phone call for a holiday party or something like that.”
