Cajmere Preps for Verboten NY Residency Launch

Regardless of what alias of his you’re familiar with, there’s no denying that Cajmere (aka America’s Best DJ nominee Green Velvet) is a legend when it comes to house music. The DJ/producer spent his formative years in the genre’s birthplace of Chicago, and launched his wildly successful Cajual Records label over 20 years ago.

Now, he’s launching a new residency at Brooklyn’s Verboten club on Friday, August 8, where he’ll bring his Cajual brand of Chicago-influenced house on a regular basis. He’ll be joined by a revolving set of his artist friends for an event series that’s sure to become a New York City dance staple.

Support for this inaugural residency shot will come courtesy of buzzing acts Motez and Shiba San. Australia-based producer/DJ Motez has made a name for himself recently with his bouncing house reworks of Top 40 radio’s biggest hits, with his remixes of Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedal” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” even featured as part of our #FreePlayFriday download series. Conversely, Shiba San has incorporated his hip hop roots into his current output, delivering slinky  G-House and deep house productions (as seen on his recent remix of MK’s “Always.”).

More information and tickets to this week’s event can be found here, and Cajmere’s single “The Way” is below.
