America's Best DJ Update: After Vegas, NYC…Then Red Rocks, Then…
Denver—America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented By Pioneer DJ continues to steam ahead, deep into the heart of EDM’s festival season.
After completing a mad Independence Day weekend at Marquee and Tao Beach in Las Vegas, we returned home to NYC on July 8 for/ an evening of proper house music at Cielo for the Basic party with ABDJ noms Sleepy & Boo. Thanks to all involved for a great night in one of our very favorite U.S. clubs.
Additionally, we hit the wild and wooly Camp Bisco upstate in Mariaville, N.Y., where we caught blistering sets from Skrillex, Wolfgang Gartner, Bassnectar and TOKiMONSTA. The three-day/night event was sold-out and Camp Bisco has officially become a genuine festival phenomenon.
What’s next? We’ve landed in the Rocky Mountains for Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks in Morrison, Col., just outside Denver, which runs through Saturday. Featured ABDJ noms playing the Mile High venue include: Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Manufactured Superstars, Dieselboy, Morgan Page and Diplo (with Major Lazer). Last year’s event was crazy and, this year, promoter Triad Dragons has added an extra day of fun and frivolity with some of the country’s top EDM talent. No doubt we’ll end each evening a little lightheaded.
And next week? It’s off to the legendary First Avenue club in Minneapolis on July 22 for Bassgasm4, which features ABDJ nom Christopher Lawrence, himself a former America’s Best DJ titlist, 2008 to be exact. As His Royal Badness once sang, “Let’s go crazy.”
As always, cast your ballot for your favorite nominated DJs in-person at an event or online at www.americasbestdj.net, and you can win a trip for 2 to Las Vegas for the America’s Best DJ Closing Party/Award Ceremony on October 9 (note new date) at Marquee Nightclub. See you on the road.
