Las VegasAnd down the stretch they come!

America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times has reached its final month and it’s become a fast-and-furious race to the finish. This past weekend, DJ Times was in Las Vegas for a daylong double dose of beats, featuring a pair of ABDJ nominees.

First up at Marquee Dayclub on Saturday afternoon was Tritonal, and the Texas trance titans didn’t disappoint. After Topher Jones warmed up the enthusiastic throng, Tritonal’s David Reed and Chad Cisneros let loose with a two-hour set of remixed buzzbombs and genre favorites like “Alive” by Alex Sonata feat. Quilla and “This Is What It Feels Like” by Armin van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie.

After catching our collective breath (and catching some room-service action), we were back at Marquee a few hours later, this time the nightclub, for a little Summer Lovin’ with the one and only Kaskade. To put it mildly, the place was rammed. Fans formed long lines to get into the club and, once inside the venue, everyone pushed their way into the main room for the headliner. This, you could feel early on, was going to be an event.

As usual, Kaskade turned it out. Dropping cuts from his new Atmopshere album, including the anthemic title track, Kaskade carried the room through a set filled with rushing crescendos and melodic sing-alongs. Once again, Marquee was conquered and his fans left the place glowing.

How to top that? Can’t really, but we’re going to give it a helluva shot tonight at Marquee’s Manhattan venue with another DJ who grew up listening to Chicago house music. Like Ryan Raddon (aka Kaskade), Mark Farina was groomed on Chicagoland’s original B-96 radio, and we can’t wait to hear his full set of the proper stuff tonight.

Proper House: Mark Farina to play Marquee NYC tonight.

Farina has long been a personal favorite of many a DJ Times staffer. His Mushroom Jazz releases remain tasty, wind-down records, while his sets—whether at a club, festival or rave—are always on-point. One of the most memorable events we ever attended had Farina rocking a “Sunset Boat Party” that cruised through the San Francisco Bay with about 500 lunatic ravers cheering like mad every time we’d ease near a landmark like Alcatraz Island or the Alameda docks. Truly, if you catch Farina on “one of those nights,” like we did back in 1997, it can be a special experience.

Just as we were this past weekend in Sin City, DJ Times will be in the house at Marquee with a dedicated voting table. Fans who vote for America’s Best DJ online or at events have a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas for the ABDJ Closing Party/Award Ceremony at Marquee Nightclub on Oct. 13. And fans who Like America’s Best DJ on Facebook or Follow America’s Best DJ on Twitter are automatically entered to win one of many weekly prizes from Pioneer DJ and DJ Times.

Time to step it up—ABDJ voting only runs until 11:59 pm this coming Labor Day.

Until then, we’ll see you on the dancefloor!
