America’s Best DJ: A Tale of 2 Cities
Las Vegas—As we look ahead to our next pair of tour stops, the two cultures couldn’t be more different this weekend, but that’s the beauty of America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ.
Why? Because three days of models, bottles and swimming pools in Las Vegas will roughly coincide with three days of all-night festival frivolity in the woods of upstate New York. We’re talking about gigs at Marquee Nightclub and Tao Beach in Vegas (July 13-15) vs. the wild Camp Bisco festival at Indian Lookout Country Club near Mariaville, N.Y. (July 12-14). Vive la différence!
And, of course, DJ Times will be at both locations, taking votes for our ABDJ-nominated DJs and giving fans chances to win a slew of prizes, like gear from Pioneer DJ and a trip for two to, yes, Las Vegas for the America’s Best DJ Closing Party/Award Ceremony on Oct. 7 at Marquee. As always, vote & win!
First up, Camp Bisco will feature five stages, including two dance tents from which the 11th annual event will present a full slate of sets from ABDJ-nominated jocks. They’ll include A-Trak, Bassnectar, Craze, Dillon Francis, Kill the Noise, MiMOSA, Porter Robinson, Star Eyes (of Trouble & Bass), and Skrillex.
As always, the Disco Biscuits will be there offering up their brand of livetronica. And for campers looking for some genuine eye-candy, they’ll want to check out Amon Tobin’s mind-blowing “ISAM Live” video set. Yowsa.
Meanwhile, way out west, DJ Times will be set up at Vegas’ Marquee on July 13, taking votes for Gabriel & Dresden, and on again July 14, taking votes for Markus Schulz and Blake Jarrell. On July 15, we’ll brave the afternoon heat at Tao Beach for Schulz’s poolside set. According the weather man, we’ll get a bit of a break—it’ll only be 99-degrees. Whew.
