Alex Metric – ‘Hope’ EP

By  |

Hot on the heels of his debut as a half of The Alexanders with Yuksek, the ever-eclectic Alex Metric has released Hope, a genre-straddling three-track EP that explores the past through a futuristic lens.

Though it’s a brief jaunt, the UK producer shows off his production chops by delving into a variety of styles and genre mash-ups. The EP’s title track—a bright fusion of jacking house and electro house—is one of two co-productions with LA future house duo Oliver and serves as an energetic opener to the diverse release. “Spiritism” is a shimmering piece of interstellar house, with glittering synth lines and spacey reverb painting a colorful soundscape. “Galaxy,” the second collaboration with Oliver, is a more straightforward take on nu disco, but its blend of funk basslines with futurist production elements and robotic vocal samples makes it effortlessly memorable.

Hope is out now via OWSLA and Big Beat. Stream the EP below.
